The birds see all, but no one fully sees their lives. They are voyeurs in constant transit. They remind me of myself, of being an alien citizen, an outsider, of solemn sadness. My father is an ornithologist and through many hours of birdwatching as a child, I feel connected to both birds and the strange world of birdwatching.
